Education

At a very young age, Janine already has a great passion for music and singing. The study solo singing (soprano) first and second phase, with Frans Kokkelmans, at the conservatory in Maastricht was successfully completed in 2001, with the diplomas Performing and Teaching Musician.
 
In order to further develop her skills in drama and dance (classical ballet, jazz, tap and street dance), Janine studies 'Music Theater' for a year at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg, performing musical singing with Edward Hoepelman. One of the highlights of this study period is the 1998 first prize in the television singing competition 'Una Voce Particolare' (Tropical TV).
 
Janine has regularly attended acting workshops at Christiane Bruhn in Cologne. She successfully participates in the international Opera Masterclass 'Acting for Singers' of the Jekerstudio in Maastricht. This masterclass is especially aimed at young European opera talent. Currently Janine is coached by singing teacher Gemma Visser.

Opera, operetta and musicals

Already during her study period, Janine played a number of roles in operas, operettas and musicals. She can be seen as:
  • Bastienne, in the concert performance of the opera ‘Bastien and Bastienne’ by W.A. Mozart.
  • Lieschen, in 'Schweigt silente, plaudert nicht' (Kaffee Kantate) by J.S. Bach with the Limburg Baroque Consort.
  • Ida, in the comic operetta 'Das Pensionat' by Franz von Suppé.
  • Christine. The leading role in the musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp.
  • ‘A Job of Our Time’. A chamber opera by Wim de Ruiter based on contemporary music.

  • Kate McGowan, in ‘The musical Titanic’ or Maury Yeston, produced by Joop van den Ende Theater Productions in the RAI, Amsterdam.
  • Christine. The leading role (1st cast), in the musical 'Das Phantom der Oper' by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the Palladium Theater (SI-Centrum) in Stuttgart with Stage Entertainment Germany (Joop van den Ende).
  • Zerlina. Leading role in the opera 'Don Giovanni' by W.A. Mozart during Monschau Klassik in collaboration with the 'Kammeroper Köln' and the 'Kölner Symphoniker'.

Concerts

As a young opera singer, Janine is already a much sought-after soloist to grace church services, festivities and concerts in collaboration with choirs, wind and symphony orchestras in the Netherlands, but also in Belgium and Germany.
 
Over the years, in addition to her studies and the roles mentioned above, she has performed a series of concerts in these three countries: Concert tours to the Czech Republic, Italy, Australia, Switzerland and Russia. She can now be heard frequently as a soloist and opera singer in a large number of concerts and church services at home and abroad. Janine has been very successful in a number of anniversary concerts of the Mastreechter Staar, concerts in Baden-Baden, Turin, Milan accompanied by Jan Vayne, at Lake Maggiore, a concert series in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia and in Monschau Klassik: Italienische Operngala. Numerous concerts every year with the 'Vlaams Muziek Theater', Belgium ​and an annual concert series in Sicily.

2022
  • Closing show, Pride Netherlands (COC Limburg), theater de Maaspoort Venlo.
  • WMC (World Music Competition) in Kerkrade: Concert series Medammecour meets WMC, livening of the opening mass on the market, WMC concert in the park and livening of the last march and show competition in the Parkstad Limburg stadium.

  • Annual concert series: Concerto D'Autumno Savoca, Sicily (Italy).
  • International Festival Vocallis, Concerto Amor Y Musica, Spanish Zarzuelas with Koninklijke Harmonie Thorn conducted by Jan Cober.
  • 'Contradictions', concert and album presentation in the Maastricht music foundry with orchestra and pianist Cor Bakker. In collaboration with Haute Couturier Addy van den Krommenacker
  • Completion of the album in the Power Sound Studio, conducted by Paul Power in Amsterdam, in collaboration with pianist Cor Bakker.
2019
  • Various dates 'Medammecour on Tour' as a Special Guest in the Limburg theaters.
 
2018
  • Concert tour Sicily.
  • 'The Silver Show' with the 3 baritones. Ernst Daniel Smit, Henk Poort and Marco Bakker. Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.

2017
  • Performed, at the request of President Nana Akufo-Addo, at a prestigious awards show in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
  • Series of concerts in Sicily.
  • WMC (World Music Competition) in Kerkrade. Closing ceremony in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium and listening to the announcement of winners Concert Competitions.
 
2015
  • Contribution to Serious Request: Opening Magical Maastricht in front of the city hall.
  • Recording video clip of the duet 'E Più Ti Penso' with tenor Martin Hurkens and performances in Heerlen.
  • A series of concerts in Sicily with the shooting of a video clip in Savoca.
